Hey! My name is Calumn Hockey from a small farming town of Bowraville, New South Wales, Australia. I'm only 26 years but have been on some pretty amazing adventures which are generally quite strenuous or just plain whacky and weird such as that time I went camel riding in Central Australia to the more intense things like staying awake for 40 hours straight while hiking some pretty gnarly terrain. I have been lost on mountains during blizzards, nearly broken my leg while paddling a bamboo raft down a flooded river in Northern Thailand to been swarmed by flies and stalked by dingoes while hiking the Larapinta Trail.
Not all things have gone bad on my adventures as I have been able to witness some truly incredible scenes over the short time I have been travelling like the time I got to see the Dalai Lama in person (I was 5 metres away from his Holiness). One of the best was seeing an electrical storm over Uluru in the Northern Territory causing cascading waterfalls to form and pour off Uluru.
I travel for the moments but I prefer to be taken by the moment and some of these moments I capture with my cameras. I breathe adventure so I thought, why don't I hone my skills with my cameras in order to truly showcase how amazing our world is! My aim is to capture the human element in these amazing landscapes our earth has given us. I hope you can follow me on my journey!
My time abroad is primarily spent in mountainous areas such as Nepal and New Zealand's South Island which have both being contributing locations to the development of my photography.
I am an advocate and content creator for GoPro Australia New Zealand with nearly 1 million likes across my GoPro images on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook since 2016. I strive to make my shots so unique in a world full of photographers that they will be so difficult to replicate no matter how hard they try.
My content is regularly featured across GoPro and GoProANZ so keep an eye out! I am a freelance adventure writer and photographer so always on the lookout for more epic work and adventures!
