Calumn Hockey (born 1992), currently living and creating on Gumbaynggirr Country, is a self-taught adventure photographer, videographer, and drone pilot obsessed with chasing raw, untamed stories from the world’s edges.
For nearly a decade, Calumn has roamed through Australia, Southeast Asia, and New Zealand, documenting the wild intersection between adventure sport and environmental conservation — camera in hand, boots worn thin, and always miles from the nearest comfort zone.
His journey began deep in the red heart of Australia, on a dusty six-month working stint in Uluru, where a simple camera sparked an obsession. From there, it was off to the storm-lashed West Coast of New Zealand, where the Southern Alps became both classroom and crucible, shaping his path as a visual storyteller and restless explorer.
Since then, he’s followed the call of the unknown — from the high passes of the Himalayas to the mist-draped temples of Burma, capturing moments that live at the edge of the map, in places where few others go.
And if the work is wild, so are the miles underfoot.

A few of Calumn’s past expeditions;
  • Rode 1,200 km from Bangkok to Yangon by bicycle, chasing monsoons and border crossings
  • Cycled 500 km solo from Uluru to Alice Springs across the Outback
  • Summited Mount Fansipan, Vietnam’s highest peak, with nothing but a bottle of water
  • Trekking 100 km in 27 hours, non-stop, with zero sleep (for charity)
  • Completed the 231 km Larapinta Trail in just 8 days, carrying all gear across ancient ridgelines

With every expedition, every frame, and every story told — this is just the beginning.
Calumn has captured some of Australia and New Zealand’s biggest and hardest ultramarathons helping dozens of events promote their race to the wider community.
